Enugu begins a factory training programme for students
In May 2026 the Enugu State Ministry of Education and the Enugu factory launched a joint training programme for senior secondary students.

On Tuesday 19 May 2026, the Enugu State Ministry of Education and the Haier factory in Enugu launched the Enugu-Haier Joint School-Enterprise Cooperation Training Programme, also called JSECT-P. Premium Times published an account of the launch on 20 May 2026. That publication date is not the date of the event.
The Ministry said the first phase would last three months and the full cycle nine months, with students attending after school from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It said the programme began with Senior Secondary School Two students from science, technical, and vocational schools, and that Government Technical College, Enugu, was the first school involved. Students from other secondary schools were described as joining later.
The Commissioner for Education, Ndubueze Mbah, was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. Published accounts do not agree on that official’s first name, so it is not repeated here. Rich Chime, described as executive director of the factory in Enugu, said the programme was meant to give students practical experience of production systems and renewable energy. Premium Times reported him as saying the factory had produced more than 30,000 desktop computers, laptops, and other devices for the state’s smart-school initiative, and about 5,000 interactive screens for schools. This website has not independently audited those quantities.
GOUNI Radio published a related account on 24 May 2026. It describes the programme being flagged off at the factory’s multipurpose hall and names Andrew Huang as business manager of Enugu Haier Factory. Details that appear in only one of these reports are left as that report’s account.
The photograph shows a training room at the factory. It is not a photograph of the 19 May launch.
The contact page has the factory telephone number and email address.
