Governor Mbah inaugurates the Enugu Haier Factory
The Enugu State Government reported that Governor Peter Mbah inaugurated the Enugu Haier Factory on 14 February 2026.

The Enugu State Government reported that Governor Peter Mbah inaugurated the Enugu Haier Factory on Saturday 14 February 2026. The government described the factory as a foreign investment by Haier Global Business in partnership with the state, and described that investment as worth $20 million. The same account was carried by other Nigerian newsrooms, including Punch and BusinessDay.
At the inauguration, Sun Yongle, vice president of Haier Group, said the factory was to produce smartphones, tablets, computers, smart boards, Android televisions, education and health technologies, and renewable-energy equipment for electricity, agriculture, and transportation. He said its designed production capacity was 200,000 units a year, covering ICT products, medical equipment, and new-energy products, and he spoke about employment as the factory was completed. He also said a further investment, which he expected to exceed $30 million, was still under discussion, including agriculture, mining, and transportation. Those are statements from the event as published by the state government. They are not audited operating results, and the further investment is not described here as a completed project.
The government account says the state provided the land and the buildings, and that it had placed offtake orders for all-in-one desktops and tablets for its Smart Green Schools. An order is not recorded here as a completed delivery. The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, was reported as saying the factory had been completed in 18 months. Dr Kingsley Udeh, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, attended and restated federal support for the partnership.
